About

A teacher, freelance writer, and recipe developer, I’m a big-time health foodie and fitness nut. An avid runner and triathlete, once upon a time food was (to my naive worry-prone self) a looming threat, something I didn’t deserve to enjoy unless I’d earned it by over-training. The relationship I fostered did nothing to support my dedication to sport,  my health and well-being, or anything else. In time, however, I learned to appreciate and understand food for what it is: a beautiful, pleasurable fuel source, a means of maintaining and improving health when approached lovingly and moderately, and something to be shared. I began educating myself and soon found I was literally ravenous for information, on cooking, healing, growing, and nutrition for training. Experimenting felt fun and natural, and set free this new well of creativity. I haven’t yet embarked on the formal quest for culinary knowledge outside of reading and doing at home,  sharing ideas with friends and family, and the occasional workshop, though I’m eagerly planning to enroll in a natural chef program.

This blog is intended as an ongoing catalog of recipe experiments and observations, and other food-related tidbits, aimed at achieving delicious nutrition that doesn’t break the bank and supports goals of training, sustainability, and overall healthy living. Let’s say I’d like it to be a slowly simmering, hopefully savory stew comprised of healthy ideas and enjoyable cooking. I’d really like to structure a little discipline and an added element of consciousness when it comes to stretching my comfort zones in the kitchen (and oooh, I so want to say the kitchen of life?). Needless to say, the deliciously ridiculous temptation of food/cooking puns out there could be a challenge!
